Ukraine Relief
I made my first ministry trip to the former Soviet Union in April 1992 to Irkutsk, Siberia. My first trip to Ukraine was in November 1993. God spoke to me to move our family to Kiev, Ukraine, which we did in August 1994.
These past 30+ years have been a wonderful, and sometimes, amazing journey. The greatest part has been the friends made and relationships developed along the way. Our main assignment in those first years was to plant and develop new churches in a land that had been denied that privilege for decades. In 1995, the Lord directed us to begin shipping aid into the country, which opened a lot of doors for us. It allowed the door to remain open in cities to plant churches as well as the establishment of House of Joy orphanage.
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine in February 2022, we have been providing resources of food, shelter, and transportation for many among the 6 million Ukrainians displaced within their own borders. We have been providing:
-
Food, clothing, finances, furniture, household supplies, etc. for the displaced.
-
We also have helped purchase vehicles whereby supplies can be delivered to people as well as soldiers fighting on the frontline.
-
We delivered 2,000 Ukrainian language Fire Bible (Study Bibles) for pastors and church leaders. Because of the was with Russia many of the people want teaching in Ukrainian language, not Russian.
Currently, we have a unique opportunity in Ukraine. Beginning in August 2024 we began purchasing modular buildings and erecting them in previous war zone areas in eastern and southern Ukraine. These are areas originally occupied by the Russian army but have now been retaken by Ukraine. For $20,000 we can have a building built and erected for a small congregation of 55-60 people, including chairs and a generator.
